Director, Software Engineering – Security Asset Inventory Platform

As director, you’ll shape the architecture, operations, and strategy of large‑scale distributed security systems while leading a team of top‑tier engineers. What You'll Do Build and lead a high‑performing team of ~10 security engineers. Define technical strategy and roadmap for security infrastructure. Deliver large‑scale distributed security systems for Commercial and Government Cloud. Ensure 24×7 operational readiness and safe change compliance. Drive cross‑company security initiatives and stakeholder alignment. Establish engineering best practices, monitoring, and observability. What You Need 12+ years software engineering, with 5+ years leading teams at senior/director level. Deep expertise designing and operating large‑scale distributed systems (microservices, consensus, service mesh). Strong programming in at least two languages (Python, Go, Java, etc.). Advanced database knowledge (SQL, NoSQL, data warehouses, search) and data pipeline design. Experience building and scaling asset inventory integration platforms handling 50+ data sources. Proven ability to influence senior leadership and manage cross‑functional stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good to Have Asset inventory, ownership, and metadata integration experience. Security engineering background (endpoint protection, vulnerability management, CSPM). Experience with regulated environments (FedRAMP, DoD IL5, SOC2). Track record of leading large, multi‑quarter cross‑company initiatives. The Opportunity This role demands overlapping work hours with US teams 2–3 times per week, providing direct influence on global security initiatives. You’ll oversee a high‑morale, 10‑engineer team within Salesforce’s Trust and Infrastructure organization.
